I’ll keep this brief - I’m so lucky to have won the COVID vaccine “lottery “. I feel immensely relieved. For the last 9 months, I’ve come home every day from the hospital with the niggling fear that I’ve brought something with me. The allocation process at my hospital is not perfect - several frontline workers have not been prioritized, and I can sense the frustration from my colleagues who are still waiting for their “ticket.”

I’m thankful for science, and in awe of the basic scientists who worked tirelessly to develop this vaccine. But I’m also sad that HCWs have to feel this way - like their only form of protection is this shot. Because it wasn’t. Things didn’t have to get so bad. People should have cared about us. They don’t. That stings.

Anyway. I’m post night shift and maudlin. Here’s to hoping for some positive change in 2021. #covid19 #coronavirus #resident #residency #intern #inpatient #doctor #womeninmedicine #blackdoctors #graphicmedicine #premed #premedmotivation #internalmedicine #medschool #medicine #medicalschool #medlife #md #medstudent #nurse #physician #frontlineworker #pfizer #moderna #vaccine #covidvaccine
