Phew. This one was a doozy. Let me start by saying that most black people in the United States have trauma. They are not obligated to share that trauma for it to be valid. I’m doing it because it’s cathartic for me. This last week has been triggering, and exhausting, but also cleansing. People in my life who used to look askance when I talked about my experiences as a black woman seem to finally be taking notice. We’re paying closer attention to SYSTEMATIC RACISM- which is a very intentional set of roadblocks put in place to keep black people disenfranchised, impoverished, and in many ways functionally enslaved. If this comic made you think or moved you or gave you pause, please repost/retweet/share etc. of all my work that I want to spread, it’s this one. #blacklivesmatter #blm #ahmaudarbery #tamirrice #philandocastile #jordanedwards #aiyanastanleyjones #policebrutsality #comic #webcomic #resident #intern #doctor #relatable #womeninmedicine #blackdoctors #graphicmedicine #premed #premedmotivation #residency #internalmedicine #medschool #medicine #medicalschool #medlife #md #medstudent #nurse #physician
